GTR2

You must have been guessing all this time what kind of games do i usually play. Haha sorry to disappoint you guys i don't counterstrike or do i dota... tried them but not really into strategy games, more into another kind - racing simulators.
I'm an avid racing fan and an incurable motorhead. It's something about engines that always calms me down. Being deprived of my all-time favourite racing game GT4, I've got to know of this pc racing simulator called GTR2 and i'm totally soaked into it.

GTR2 is based on the real European GT series event, where European super cars such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Saleen, Mclaren F1, and Porsche participate battle it out for the FIA touring car series GT Championship.

GRAPHICS
Graphics wise, this has got the most stunning graphics I've ever seen in a racing game; several times better than GT4. Take a look at the pics below:

The image “http://filez.litwc.com/Video/Games/gtr2.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.
check out the detail of the car interior and the landscaping plus the degree of realism in the modeling of the real racing cars.

If you set the damage effect on, you will notice the damaged areas on the body of the car, depending on the severity of it: from light scratches to missing bodykits until totally wrecked undercarriages.

SIMULATION
Talking about simulation, every part of your machine can be tuned: from engine power displacement, rev limiter, air opening, moTEC control, wheel balancing, tire compound, temperature and pressure, suspension dampening, suspension rebound level, camber angle, stabilizer level, ride height, weight distribution, brake balance and bias ratios, downforce angle, fully independent and adjustable gear ratios.... (if you know what I'm talking about). Even your seat height and distance between your view and the steering wheel is fully adjustable... nuts.

Game physics is also top notch. The tire simulation responds real time to the weather and track temperature where the tire needs to warm up to a certain temperature degree only you are able to get the optimum grip and traction from the tires. There is also a degree of slip curve on the tires which adds more to the handling realism. Over time you can feel your tires wearing away and traction and handling will deteriorate depending on your driving intensity. During braking and cornering you will also notice the weight transfer of your car. This can help you to control your car to optimize your cornering stability, if you can understand the physics of weight transfer and how and to take advantage of it.

Another interesting thing I've noticed is, your windscreen will start to get clouded with exhaust fumes and grime, preventing you from getting a clear view of the track as you advance through the number of the laps. To me this is really cool.

The weather and temperature is also time-simulated and changeable too. A good O' bright sunny day good for racing weather can later turn into a flooded rainy afternoon. This will also affect the tires which you are using and your driving ability.

The only thing i wish they would include is a windsceen wiper which i can turn on during rainy days of driving haha...

GAME PLAY
This is not your normal Need for Speed arcade racing game. In fact its not even a game if you ask me: it's a simulator.

It's a virtual environment for me to be able to test out the level of my racing skills in a virtual track racing with professionally programmed AIs. To really appreciate and enjoy the game to the fullest, first you need to ditch off your particular arcade driving habits behind, go the the virtual driving school in the game and learn the basic driving skills of motor racing. It covers everything you need to know from how to tackle different types of curves and turns, braking points, determine the best apex entries and so on... you will need time to get use to the physics of the game and months of practicing to prepare you for the main league. Blindly attacking corners without proper braking and gear leveling will surely leave you ended up lying on the gravel bay. Don't even think about drifting before you are able to control the car to complete a lap without spinning off the track.

Should you feel that you are good enough and need more realism to feed your racing needs, you can turn the flag rules on to the where you will now be adhering to the real racing rules: no cutting through or going through short cuts in the track, bumping into other cars or speeding in the pit lane. Violation of rules will result in a pit stop drive-through penalty or in severe cases disqualified from the race.

I'm currently participating in the 2004 season, now in 4th event. I'll need to endure 35 minutes of precision driving until i pass through the chequered flag, not to mention constantly monitoring my current standing, my fuel level and going easy on my tires and brakes to last through the entire race.

On other days, i'll let loose and host a weekend LAN race with all my housemates in our all-time favorite local Sepang circuit. (yes it even includes Sepang circuit in the game)

Basically it's a real racing simulator where you will need to have a play it in a professional mindset, constantly experimenting with different set of tunings on your machine to the optimize the handling characteristics of your car to suit the particular track which you are racing, which is fine to me.

I think GTR2 should be more considered as a platform for game designers to experiment with their own add-ons and updates to constantly improve the game. Everything about the game is customizable: Even the game itself is customizable. I've replaced the soundtracks with my favorite songs which i can listen to as I'm racing. I've just downloaded a formula 1 update recently from someone who created the patch and voila - i have a new set of cars to drive, and a whole new total formula season to participate. The only thing i'm not too happy about is why until now still nobody created Super GT series?!!! I want to drive ARTA NSX...

Anyway, those who have a pure racing spirit will totally enjoy this game.

A good alternative to experience motor racing without spending a bomb on a real track car and track renting fees and putting yourself in danger.

Do try it out and have fun ^^

beautiful and very expensive guitar

Wednesday, September 26, 2007

It's been a while since I've honestly wrote a post. Had been trying to go off-topic into huge guitar collections and crap just to divert my attention and trying to give myself some breathing space and time to cool off the mounting pressure.

My house mate will be flying off to US soon, packing her stuff now, hopefully i will be able to move in within a week or two. Can't wait to have my own room. There's so many things i wanted to do but at the moment i can't. I'm stranded from any available space and privacy, and the hot and stuffy air on the living room upstairs really killing off my mood in getting things done. Haven't really been comfortable staying in KL all this time. No wonder i miss home so much.

Came across Sugizo's journal. Pretty interesting. Finally able to get to read about his daily life, his thoughts and his feelings and getting to know the REAL personality of him. Compared to the arrogant and show-off attitude rocker SUGIZO whom i used to see during his visual kei era in LUNA SEA, i was surprised to note that he is a person who is humble, deep in thoughts and feelings, has his ups and downs, struggles with the difficulties of life finally able to find the right path to channeling his energy to his music now in a positive way.

It's interesting to note that he now has a different approach to his music and also a different way of embracing life. The songs he writes now focus on humanity, saving the environment and peace. He's a humanity, anti-war and environmental activist and is actively involved in making public awareness of preserving the earth and peace to the nations.

I'm really proud of him the fact that he's aware of himself as a public figure and he knows that he has a responsibility to make sure that he can influence people in a right and positive way. He has turned from a self-centered bitter person into a sensitive caring person who always put others first, that coming from a J rocker.

I'm not too sure but i think he's a Catholic. After all the effort made in putting his life and purpose right, I really hope that God will touch him and save him one day and show him the real purpose in life and will use him to channel his energy in the right way, which is to spread the gospel. Keeping him in my prayers. God bless you Sugizo.

Time after time

Lying in my bed I hear the clock tick
And think of you
Caught up in circles confusion
Is nothing new
Flashback warm nights
Almost left behind
Suitcases of memories
Time after

Sometimes you picture me
I'm walking too far ahead
You're calling to me, I can't hear
What you've said
Then you say go slow
I'll fall behind
The second hand unwinds

If you're lost you can look, and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall I will catch you, I'll be waiting
Time after time

After my picture fades and darkness has
Turned to grey
Watching through windows you're wondering
If I'm OK
Secrets stolen from deep inside
The drum beats out of time

Trust in the Lord

Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not unto your own understanding.”
Proverbs 3:5

The human intellect relies upon "understanding" to discern the best course for the future. In this verse, the word used for "understanding" (binah) derives from a word that refers to the idea of "interval," or "space between" (bayin). The word suggests, then, that intellectual understanding involves a sense of discrimination or discernment between things -- usually in terms of temporal sequences and logical connections.

The attitude of trust, on the other hand, refers to a self-consciously chosen inner disposition of the heart (lev or inmost self) that passionately depends upon the ability and grace of God to guide one in relation to the temporal sequences and connections of life. Trust involves the whole person and is manifest as an inner act of will that believes God for the future fulfillment of hope.

Betucha - trust
Human understanding attempts to predict, anticipate, and infer relationships between events, but we are to trust in the Lord with all of our heart. Only God can adequately discern our future path and lead us into the victory of faith.

Although we had heard this verse many times, it's is interesting to note still how quick we can turn weary when situations around us arise. Shall learn to be quiet and still before the Lord and trust in His words that He had proclaimed, knowing that He is in control of all situations.

Do Not Worry

"Do Not Worry"

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
--Matthew 6:25-34

Forgive me for my little faith, O Father. Many times i'm so drawn away by the many worries and let the cares of the world get the better of me, instead of focusing on my responsibilities to be the child You have always wanted me to be.

I can't do it alone Father.

please help me.

spiritual checkpoint

Life in KL is really hard to maintain my spiritual walk. With all the daily commitments tied up plus all the unnecessary stress, mood swings and tiredness... so many issues in my head, so many troubles, so many disappointments, so many heartaches, it's really hard to just sit down and quiet before the Lord. Not to mention also those dreaded temptations that unknowingly steal my time away for the Lord. Despite that i cannot yield to it and got to press on to keep up with Him. It's a challenge and task i placed upon myself to commit to. May God be merciful to me that i will not lose ground. Had so much zeal, but so little bible knowledge. Need to get my facts and truths right, and most importantly the way i live my life. I ain't saying that my life is a pleasant one; in fact it's a mess, and i'm ashamed of it. But i believe that by His grace, mercy and patience He will somehow turn my messed-up life into a testimony that in the end His name will be glorified. I need to persevere on. He will make a way. Please help me God.

confession

After all the flashbacks, wondering, anxiety, sleepless nights and tearful prayers, i want to confess... i love you. i just realized that, after 3 years.

Dear God

Dear God,
Here's your helpless son crying for help again...
I don't want to say much... You have already knew it before i can even say out.
Lord may You guide my path, give me wisdom to handle this situation, the way You wish it should be done, help me to trust in You and You only, that You will lead me though this situation, catch me should i fall and heal my broken heart should it be shattered to a million pieces. In the end let You will be done and Your name glorified. Lord give me rest, peace and shelter for my helpless little soul. Lord i thank you for You are a good God, who will never leave nor forsake.
Give You thanks and all the glory.
helpless son,
kian meng

waiting for my own bedroom

Can't wait for October to come. My housemate will be leaving for USA on October, and if all things go well, i will be taking over her room! Hmm... kinda excited, as i had been wanting to have my own room all the while since i moved to kl. A guy's gotta have his own privacy and space sometimes... after a whole day's work and facing people and pressure and stress and stuff, i need some time and space on my own, just be myself, just do my thing.

Talking about my own bedroom, the headache part is how should my room look like: i mean, it's a place where i'll be spending time sleeping, my hangout area, my quiet time with God, my recording, my um... whatever. In short it's gotta comfortable enough to be a bedroom, peaceful enough to meet with God, practical enough to be a studio and cool enough to hangout. Got a few pics of some sample cool bedroom arragements from someone who shares some similar ideas of how my ideal bedroom should look like.

A practical looking storage space for my CDs, DVDs, books and stuff
Mini production studio corneramp and guitars storage section
A cool-looking room for my work related stuff: gaming, recording, guitar practise session and most important of all, spending time with God and a good night's sleep. Hopefully all things turn out well as accordingly planned. Looking forward to it^^

Digitech Whammy Pedal

One of pedals that i've been wanting to own is the Digitech Whammy pedal. I wasn't really very much fond of the pedal until the great Luna Sea guitarist Sugizo used the pedal to effectively create his mind blowing signature "screaming" sound. Planning to get one soon but its so frigging expensive...

Tokai Talbo

Cool guitar used by GLAY guitarist Hisashi. Aluminium body with transparent blue scratch plate. Beautiful guitar.

ESP Forest GT

This is the guitar that i'm eyeing. Looks deliciously gothic... the perfect guitar for a visual kei guitarist.

Suffering from GAS (Guitar Acquiring Syndrome)

This is the most dreadful hour at work. 2.27pm in the afternoon, middle-of-nowhere hour. The most boring hour of the time. Not like i have nothing to do but, you know, you get bored. Can't wait to get back and read my interesting book which i've just bought^^. At the moment i'm suffering from GAS (Guitar Acquiring Syndrome) haha forgive me for being greedy, if any of you suddenly feel generous you may bless me *hint*hint* hehe... anyway here are the honest list of dream guitars which i would like to own:
